Greenburgh Postal Coverage
Greenburgh is not a single postal unit. The working list below joins ZIPs to communities that the town describes as inside Greenburgh or within its village and neighborhood context. It is not an exhaustive USPS boundary list. A ZIP may extend across municipal lines, and the official research did not locate a standalone USPS table of every ZIP that intersects the town. For a particular street number, use the USPS address lookup and then check Greenburgh GIS for the parcel jurisdiction.
| ZIP | Areas | Post Office | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10502 | Ardsley; South Ardsley | Ardsley, 875 Saw Mill River Road, Suite 4 | Ardsley village is in the town; USPS also lists Ardsley-on-Hudson separately. |
| 10503 | Ardsley-on-Hudson | Ardsley on Hudson, 110 Ardsley Avenue West | A community in Irvington's river area, not Ardsley village. Verify the exact address. |
| 10522 | Dobbs Ferry | Dobbs Ferry, 120 Main Street | Dobbs Ferry village is within Greenburgh. |
| 10523 | Elmsford; North Elmsford | Elmsford, 2 East Main Street; Elmsford Annex | Village and adjacent town areas can share a postal name. |
| 10530 | Hartsdale | Verify by USPS address lookup | Hartsdale is an unincorporated Greenburgh neighborhood. |
| 10533 | Irvington; East Irvington | Irvington, 25 North Buckhout Street | Ardsley-on-Hudson may instead use 10503. |
| 10583 | Greenville/Edgemont; some Scarsdale-styled addresses | Hartsdale facility in Scarsdale | Postal and town labels do not align. Confirm through USPS and the parcel map. |
| 10591 | Tarrytown; nearby river area | Tarrytown, 50 North Broadway | Nearby Sleepy Hollow also uses 10591 and is a separate municipality. |
| 10603 | North White Plains / White Plains mailing area | North White Plains, 585 North Broadway | A postal city can differ from Greenburgh municipal jurisdiction. |
| 10607 | Greenburgh / White Plains mailing area; Town Hall | Exact USPS post-office row was not located | Common town-government mailing ZIP, not proof a parcel is in White Plains city. |
| 10706 | Hastings-on-Hudson | Hastings-on-Hudson, 591 Warburton Avenue | Hastings-on-Hudson village is within Greenburgh. |
Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Elmsford, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington, and Tarrytown are incorporated villages in the town context. Fairview, Greenville/Edgemont, Hartsdale, East Irvington, North Elmsford, and South Ardsley are additional local names that can occur in an address, directory, or parcel trail. Keep each source's place name, then normalize it with the actual parcel and custodian.
Note: USPS recognition and parcel jurisdiction must be checked address by address because a returned ZIP alone does not establish town, village, or city limits.
Check a Greenburgh ZIP Code by Address
The USPS ZIP Code Lookup is the final postal check for a particular street number. Its By Address mode takes a street address, city, state, and an optional apartment, suite, or ZIP. The service also provides By City and State and Cities by ZIP modes. If multiple results appear, narrow the address with a unit. USPS says a returned ZIP does not confirm that a person or company is at the address. That warning matters when a name search and a mailing label appear to agree but no official record ties the name to the parcel.
Open the official USPS lookup to compare a full street address, city, and state against the recognized postal form.
The three lookup modes are useful for postal verification, but none substitutes for a town parcel map or an official record custodian.
Use the recommended city name for delivery questions. For municipal research, do a second check in the GIS. This two-step approach prevents a Scarsdale, White Plains, or river-community postal label from being treated as the legal location of a Greenburgh parcel.
Greenburgh Postal Search Fields
Only a few official tools use ZIP as an input, and none turns it into a town-wide people list. USPS verifies a postal delivery location. The NYS voter lookup includes ZIP but also requires the county, a last name, a first name, and a full date of birth. The Greenburgh tax portal accepts address, last name, or account number. Town GIS uses address or parcel number and is not documented as a ZIP filter. The difference matters: a ZIP can narrow a known record search, while an address or parcel identifies the specific property.
| USPS field | Type | Requirement | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Street address | Text | Required for By Address | Enter the physical delivery address. |
| City | Text | Required for By Address | Use the postal city supplied for the address. |
| State | Selection | Required for By Address | Select New York for a Greenburgh address. |
| Apartment or suite | Text | Optional | Add it when the street address returns multiple possible matches. |
| ZIP | Text | Optional in By Address; primary in Cities by ZIP | Use five digits and compare the returned postal locality. |
The NYS voter form should be used only for its stated individual confirmation workflow. It requires a current registration ZIP and does not provide a street or bulk voter result. Voter-file requests require the Election Law § 3-103(5) elections-purpose statement, and the public-facing VEDA system excludes individual voter records.
Find a Greenburgh Postal Record
This postal search can narrow an address investigation, but it cannot establish a resident roster. Start with the address you actually have and work toward the parcel. If the search begins with only a ZIP and a surname, use the ZIP as a confirmation detail after a name, event, or address produces an official record. The sequence below keeps postal verification separate from ownership, tax, and voter information.
- Run the full street address through USPS and save the recognized city, ZIP, unit, and the date checked.
- Enter the street number and street name in Greenburgh GIS. Town instructions say to omit suffix words, select the parcel, and open the Assessment tab.
- Capture the parcel ID, situs address, owner block, and CAI property-card links. Treat a mailing address as a correspondence clue, not occupancy proof.
- Use the tax portal by address, last name, or account number for an account or tax-status question. Use the voter system only when you have the one person's required fields.
Once a ZIP has narrowed the area to a named road, the Greenburgh street directory is the place to follow the address and parcel trail in more detail. ZIPs do not replace dotted section-block-lot identifiers such as 7.420-238-13 or a deed's legal description.
Note: The voter confirmation route requires a person’s name, county, date of birth, and current ZIP, so it cannot supply a ZIP-wide roster.
Greenburgh Parcel Checks by ZIP
Greenburgh's municipal tax portal is documented as searchable by address, last name, or account number. It is not documented as a ZIP-wide owner search. That makes it a follow-up tool after the physical address has been verified. Its owner or correspondence information remains a record clue, not a household list. For map and parcel work, use the town's GIS rather than assuming a postal ZIP boundary controls the property record.
Review the Greenburgh tax search options before entering an address, name, or account number.
The portal's address, last-name, and account-number routes show the available property-tax entry points rather than a ZIP-wide resident search.
The Town of Greenburgh GIS accepts a street number and street name or a parcel number. The Assessment tab can lead to a CAI property card, tax map, survey, building sketch, current tax rates, and assessment rolls. Its map layers cover property and assessment information, school districts, and zoning, all of which can help distinguish a postal label from the parcel itself.
Open the town parcel viewer after USPS confirms the mailing form.
The GIS result supplies the parcel-level context that a ZIP, tax bill, or postal city cannot provide on its own.
Greenburgh Postal and Town Lines
The most important local mismatch is 10583. Greenburgh's Greenville and Edgemont addresses may carry a Scarsdale-styled postal label, while the USPS Hartsdale facility is physically in Scarsdale. The parcel, not the postal label, determines whether a town record belongs with Greenburgh. Similar care is needed with 10603 and 10607. A North White Plains or White Plains mailing address can occur with a Greenburgh municipal record, and the Town Hall mailing ZIP does not prove a parcel lies in White Plains city.
Postal city, village, neighborhood, school district, and town can all describe different facets of the same place. In an older record, add historic locality headings such as Hartsdale, White Plains, Scarsdale, Valhalla, Elmsford, and river communities to the search. They are not interchangeable labels, but they can help locate a directory entry, map, or archive finding aid.
- ZIP versus ZIP+4
- A ZIP identifies a postal service area. ZIP+4 adds a smaller delivery segment, not a municipal boundary.
- PO-box ZIP
- A postal code assigned for post-office boxes. It does not identify a physical parcel.
- Unique ZIP
- A code used for a single organization or delivery destination. No verified Greenburgh unique ZIP was located in the research.
- Carrier route
- A postal delivery grouping. It is not a public resident list or a property legal description.
Note: A White Plains or Scarsdale mailing label is a postal fact, not proof that the address falls outside Greenburgh town jurisdiction.
Greenburgh Postal History Limits
No verified ZIP split or realignment history specific to Greenburgh was located. Do not project a modern ZIP onto a historical directory or deed. For earlier work, search the postal locality printed on the source. Richmond's 1913 volume covers White Plains, Hartsdale, and Scarsdale, while Turner titles cover Hartsdale, Valhalla, White Plains, and nearby Harlem Railroad places. NARA's White Plains volumes for 1928 through 1932 include Elmsford, Hartsdale, and Scarsdale.
Pair a period locality with a historic tax map, a County Archives map, and the current GIS parcel. Census ZCTAs are broad Census representations of USPS service areas and do not release individual addresses under Title 13. They can provide aggregate context, but USPS is the address-verification authority and neither source replaces a parcel record.
Greenburgh Postal Search Notes
Keep a short search note for each postal check: the full address entered, recognized city, returned ZIP, unit, date, parcel ID, and the confirmed town or village jurisdiction. Add the portal used and what it could not prove. This is especially useful where Greenburgh, White Plains, Scarsdale, Hartsdale, or a village label appears in the same record trail. It also makes a later name, deed, tax, or court check easier to repeat.
Postal caution. Use a ZIP to verify delivery geography, then use the parcel and the correct custodian for municipal, ownership, or historical record questions.
Greenburgh's layered geography is a research advantage when it is recorded precisely. A postal result can point to the next official source, but it should never be used to infer a household, municipal boundary, or record custodian without that second check.
